How can I insert or remove my SIM card?
While your UW SIM will look like one card, it can be broken in three sizes: Nano SIM, Micro SIM and Standard SIM. Most mobile devices made after 2012 will use the Nano SIM, with previous devices using the Standard or Nano SIM. You’ll learn which size your device takes when you remove your SIM tray.
Removing your old SIM
For all devices, you should first turn your mobile device off.
iPhones and newer Android phones use a small tray where you can remove and insert your SIM card. It will have a pin hole on the side. On iPhones, this tray can be found on the right side of your phone. On Android, it can be found either on the side or top of the device.
As shown in the video above, take the SIM removal tool that came with your device and insert it into your mobile’s pinhole. If you don’t have this to hand, you can use a paperclip. It should pop out easily, don’t use too much force.
For older devices, this is likely found underneath your battery. First, remove the back plate, and then take out your battery. You should see you current SIM card here.
Inserting your new SIM
Once you’ve located your SIM tray, and possibly old SIM, use it as a reference as to which size you should make your SIM. You can make your new SIM into a Nano size just by applying pressure onto the breakable border with your fingers and popping it out.
The SIM card will have a small notch in one of the corners, and your new SIM card will only fit one way. Once it’s snug, slide it back into your phone the way it came out.
Now, power your device back on. Your mobile should now connect to your new carrier.
