What do the displays on my non-smart prepayment meter mean?

You can find out lots of information from your prepayment meter. For example:  

  • The amount of credit balance you have left 

  • Details  about your tariff 

  • Details about debt and repayment rates

Don't worry if it all seems confusing – we've created this useful guide below to show you the information you can see on each display. 

Understanding your gas prepayment meter

To flick through the screens, just press the red button on the meter and take a look at this:

1. Gas safety advice – this tells you what to do if you have a gas leak. 

2. Red display Button A – press this button to see all the information held on your meter.

3. LCD screen – shows you how much credit is on your meter. You can also view all the display screens on here when you press button ‘A’.

4. Meter Serial Number (MSN) – your property's unique supply number. You'll need to quote it if there are any problems with your supply or meter. 

5. Card slot – insert your prepayment card here to top up your meter.

To flick through the screens, just press the blue button on the meter and take a look at this:

1. LCD screen – the display screen shows you how much credit you have. You can view all your meter and usage information here. 

2. Blue display button – press this button to get all your meter information.

3. Meter Serial Number (MSN) – your property's unique supply number. You'll need to quote it if there are any problems with your supply or meter. 

4. Key slot – insert your prepayment key here to top up your meter.
