What are the benefits of paying by Direct Debit?
Here at UW we want our customers to get on with the things that really matter in life. Having to remember to pay your bill is not one of them! Some of the many benefits of setting up a Direct Debit are:
Payments are taken automatically, so bills are never forgotten and there's no risk of late payment charges
On average our customers save £131 a year on their energy rates by having a Direct Debit in place (savings depend on energy usage)
Quicker refunds - customers who pay by card have to wait longer for their refund, compared to customers who pay by Direct Debit
You will be protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee
Setting one up is easy!
If you haven’t registered online yet it’s quick and easy to. You’ll just need your account number (found on your bill) and your date of birth.
The Direct Debit Guarantee
This Guarantee is offered by all banks and building societies that accept instructions to pay direct debits.
If there are any changes to the amount, date or frequency of your direct debit the Utility Warehouse will notify you 3 working days in advance of your account being debited or as otherwise agreed. If you request the Utility Warehouse to collect a payment, confirmation of the amount and date will be given to you at the time of the request.
If an error is made in the payment of your direct debit, by the Utility Warehouse or your bank or building society, you are entitled to a full and immediate refund of the amount paid from your bank or building society.
If you receive a refund you are not entitled to, you must pay it back when the Utility Warehouse asks you to. You can cancel a direct debit at any time by simply contacting your bank or building society. Written confirmation may be required. Please also notify us.
Please note Banks and Building Societies may not accept direct debit instructions for some types of account.
