Why is my bill different from my quote?

You might be surprised to find your first UW bill is different from the amount you were quoted. This doesn’t mean you’ve been charged incorrectly. It all depends on which services you take, and when in the month they went live.

If you’ve taken multiple services, there may also be some one-off charges that can also affect your first bill.

Here’s the breakdown of how each of our services are billed.

Energy

Your first bill will depend on when your services went live, and whether you have a

.

If you pay for how much you use each month (known as `in arrears`), you'll receive your first bill the month after your service goes live. We'll charge you for how much you used, so if your service went live part way through the month, it will be less than a full month's payment.

If you're on a Budget Plan, we'll take the same payment each month. Once we have more information on your energy usage, your Budget Plan may be adjusted to reflect this more accurately. This means you might see an increase or decrease in your monthly payments in future bills. You can find out more

Broadband

If you received your first broadband bill the month after it went live, it may be higher than you expected. That's because it contains more than one month's charges, with the charges for the first month based on the amount you’ve used. Future bills will be a normal monthly charge.

For example, if your broadband went live on 21st June, your July bill would cover all of July’s monthly charge, plus the 9 days in June.

Your first bill may also include a postage and packing charge for any equipment, such as routers, that we send you. These will be clearly explained on your bill.

Mobile

If you received your first mobile bill the month after it went live, it may be higher than you expected. That's because it contains more than one month's charges, with the charges for the first month based on the amount you’ve used. Future bills will be a normal monthly charge. We start billing from 3 days after you order your SIM card, or when you activate it, whichever is sooner.

Cashback Card

If you take out a UW Cashback Card there is a one-off application fee of £5 per account, which will appear on your first bill along with the monthly fee of £2. Find out more about our Cashback Card charges
